Chorafakia
Shimmering sunsets
The amenities offered in the village include three genuine Greek Tavernas. At the top of the hill you will find Irene's. Appearing in both the most recent Rough Guide and Cretan Essentials, she is clearly doing a great job and will invite you into the kitchen to see what else is on offer for the evening or lunch time meal.
Turning Left at the top of the hill, you will find a traditional Gyro eatery and if you travel a little further you will come to Baha. The food here is more European and less rustic. At the weekends Baha turns into a great music venue. So if it is great food and live music you are looking for, this is the place for you! The closest restaurant is just down the hill and on the left. The Sunset Restaurant serves honest Greek food and as the name suggests, a great place to see the sun slipping down beyond the horizon. (Our balcony is far better...!)
The village also has a cafe bar, car rental offices, a petrol station and a very well stocked Super Market that has all your eating essentials in stock. Getting into Chania could not be easier and you can either take the hourly bus service from the top of the hill or call Steliios from a local Taxi firm.
Chania is twenty five minutes away by either bus or by car. The old capital is a bustling city and the venetian harbor area boasts many bars, restaurants and shops for your souvenir shopping.
